Imagination is more important than knowledge.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

~ Albert Einstein

New People

"If you approach each new person you meet in a spirit of adventure, you will find yourself endlessly fascinated by the new channels of thought and experience and personality that you encounter." - Eleanor Roosevelt

A time to think

After completing a difficult obstacle course an athlete was asked, what did you think of the course. He replied, "I didn't think about it, I just did it."

Our lives are seasonal. When we want to act but don't know what to do, we may be in a season of preparation, a time for reflection and personal development.  When a season of preparation transitions into a season of action, there may be little time for thinking. So don't despise the quiet times in your life, especially those when certainty about 'next steps' eludes you.  It is at times like these that we can gain fresh perspectives by exposing ourselves to new knowledge, unearthing new abilities, and making new friends.

Maximize your season of preparation. Before long, it will end and you will be back in the game, facing new challenges that require greater personal effort, a stronger belief system and increased mental agility. Prepare while you can.

Something new

Stepping outside of our comfort zone into an unfamiliar area  leads us to the place were pure joy meets pure fear.   Where a plethora of contradictory emotions collide  - anxiety, excitement, apprehensiveness, exhilaration, panic, peace. It is within this context that we are forced to walk precariously along the edge of joy. Where the thin line that separates our greatest dreams from our worst nightmares is revealed.

The reward for thriving within a new context is the expansion of our old mindset. Our faith increases and our stamina reaches a new level.  Momentum propels us forward, empowering us once again to achieve goals beyond our wildest imagination.

The new is a catalyst for the old.

Something new...

A life well lived

At pivotal moments in our lives, we step back and take inventory of who we are and what we have accomplished. We ask ourselves, "Have I lived my life well?" Our answer causes us to make adjustments and then guides our next steps.

It's at times like these (weddings, birthday parties, and funerals) that we discover a new part of ourselves.

In the midst of joy and pain we find direction.

A life well lived.
